Benefits of PACS Imaging

Filed under: Computers And Internet — smitha @ 12:16 pm

PACS is an abbreviation of Picture Archiving and Communication System. One of the most efficient techniques used in the medical field today is PACS Imaging. With this technique, doctors can now instantly view X-Rays, MRIs, CT Scans etc. of their patients on their computer screens as and when they are being taken in the Radiology or ultra scan departments. The radiologists can also determine more accurately whether the X-Ray taken is clear enough using the PACS Imaging technique, thus avoiding a second sitting for the same. In earlier days, the X-Ray was taken as a hard-copy in a film which would not have been taken clearly at the first attempt always.

Orthopedic PACS is the latest form of PACS imaging method gaining momentum these days. The orthopedic surgeons can now adjust the images to see them in their true sizes and thus plan for a more planned surgery or consultation.

With the coming of age of the PACS Imaging technique, the radiologists in hospitals and other health care organizations can get more accurate x-ray readings in the form of filmless, soft-copies. To make this possible, radiology reading rooms have come up which have all the required infrastructure and machinery to enable digital reading rooms become a reality.
