What works well with cramping???

I hear Bananas help cramping. Does it really? I need something to help me during camp! Please help. I need as many answers as possible!! I will be there from 8am-8pm. And my cramps are always crucial! I think band camp will get me in shape though, bc we will be running.. [i heard this helps with cramps] I have been jumping on my trampoline daily trying to get in shape and reduce my cramps.

Yoga stretches, exercising in general, plenty of fluids such as water, bananas, and MIDOL! It really works. Good luck and I hope those cramps don’t interfere with your fun at camp. :)

Here are some tips (assuming you mean muscle cramps and not menstrual cramps?):

(1) Aspirin/Advil - some type of anti-inflammatory can help once pain or cramping has started or to try to prevent cramping/inflammation
(2) Hot Showers/baths/hot water bottles and/or heating pads - if you have access to any of these things - heat relaxes the muscles
(3) Stretch before you do any type of exercise!
(4) Keep hydrated - when you sweat - you lose vitamins that your body needs to keep your muscles moving
(5) Try stocking up on drinks to restore your electrolytes - like Gatorade - you sweat these out and need to replace them
(6) Wait awhile after eating to exercise - your body will cramp more if you exercise too soon after eating (as you digest - your body uses blood that would have otherwise been used elsewhere in your body)
(7) Take your vitamins and eat a balanced diet! There is a long list of vitamins that help your body work correctly. (as you noted - keep your potassium up!)
(8) Massage the area that is cramping - it can loosen the tight muscles and provide relief

“Natural Remedies:”

(1) A couple of spoonfuls of mustard
(2) Pickle Juice (both this and the above have a chemical in them that reduces muscle cramps and are used by coaches and sports teams)
(3) Up your calcium - you can use an antacid as a supplement or a vitamin supplement - only *do not* use this long term without consulting a physician
(4) Apple Cider Vinegar (high in potassium)

Actually bananas do help. Use Midol because it works really well. When I get cramps I can’t move so consider yourself lucky. Midol takes it away so use Midol.

if you have a heating pad , you can use that. Bananas do work because of the potassium it contains. Drink plenty of water and also try taking a bath with Epsom salt to help relax your muscle tension.

…………..

Bananas help because they’re high in potassium.
Light Exercise, Stretching, Hot Baths, Midol, or Hot Water Bottles help to reduce the pain of cramps. (:
